Figure 3.3 looks only at the data on felony disenfranchisement. The map in Fig 3.3 uses data from the ACLU's webpage, "State Criminal Disfranchisement Laws." The map is intended to illustrate the diversity of felony-related voter disenfranchisement by state. The bar chart (below) and ranked list (right) speak to the growing rate of incarceration. Additionally, this page is a testament to McDonald's fastidious data collection. The prison, parole, and probation numbers here have all been adjusted by McDonald to reflect each state's voter disenfranchised laws. (For example, Maine, Vermont, and Washington DC report 0, because they do not bar felons from voting.)
